Players of the Luigi's Mansion series may wonder why the vacuum Luigi uses in Luigi's Mansion is called the Poltergust 3000, but the one used in the sequel, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, is called the Poltergust 5000, seemingly skipping the "4000" model number.

This is actually due to the fact that a completely different Mario subfranchise already used the "Poltergust 4000" name by the time Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon released, that being the name of a kart in Mario Kart DS.

This raises the humorous possibility that between the two Luigi's Mansion games, Professor E. Gadd completely restructured the vacuum cleaner into a car for the next model, only to go back on that development and make it into a vacuum cleaner again for the following model.

historically the expectation that trans people should universally pursue and eventually have bottom surgery has been significantly more harmful, but i think the rightful reaction to it - the open acceptance of pre/non-op trans bodies - has this increasing tendency to go too far in the opposite direction. it’s to the point i have seen several people - including trans people - express incredulity at the idea that a trans person can have neogenitalia, as if the scipt has flipped entirely and bottom surgery has ceased to exist altogether. And this does several kinds of harm too and in many cases is weaponized to further the same transphobic narratives that the “all trans people must have The Surgery” expectation does.

like can we please just erase all expectations of what a normative body for XYZ category of people looks like, can that be the new narrative instead
